Interesting facts about Mount Ararat

Mount Ararat is a snow-capped and dormant compound volcano located in the extreme east of Turkey, in the Iğdır and Ağrı provinces. It consists of two major volcanic cones: Greater Ararat and Little Ararat.

Greater Ararat is the highest peak in Turkey and the Armenian Highland with an elevation of 5,137 m (16,854 ft);

Little Ararat’s elevation is 3,896 m (12,782 ft). The first recorded efforts to reach Ararat’s summit were made in the Middle Ages, and Friedrich Parrot, Khachatur Abovian, and four others made the first recorded ascent in 1829.

Mount Ararat is known for being a sacred mountain by Armenians and is featured prominently in Armenian literature and art. It is also an icon for Armenian irredentism.

In Europe, the mountain has been called by the name Ararat since the Middle Ages, as it began to be identified with “mountains of Ararat” described in the Bible as the resting place of Noah’s Ark, despite contention that Genesis 8:4 does not refer specifically to a Mount Ararat

Hamta Pass Base camp trek - Chika

Recently, we visited Manali-one of the most beautiful places in the state of Himachal Pradesh, INDIA.

We Stayed in 'Casual Monks Wooden house and Cafe' in Manali which was booked by my friend Anita, and it turned out to be the best stay so far with wonderful views of Pir Panjal range (in the lower Himalayan Region) and great hospitality. One must try hot chocolate here. It was the best.

We went for a one-day trek to Hamta Pass- Chika.

Hamta Pass is a corridor in the Himalayas, between the Chandra Valley in Lahaul and the Kullu valley of Himachal PradeshIndia. The pass is named after Hamta Village, below Sethan village.

Lower Himalayan shepherds use the pass in summer for its high-altitude grasslands in the summer, when the desert of Lahaul is barren.

The pass includes vertical rock walls, waterfalls, hanging glaciers, pinewoods, rhododendron forests, open meadows, and small lakes.
